Jordan's principal agri-food imports in 2008 were wheat and flour ($452 million), meat and fish ($317 million), fruits, vegetables and nuts ($294 million), barley ($110 million), and eggs and poultry products ($257 million). Jordan is self-sufficient in a number of agricultural products, but is dependent on some vital items such as poultry equipments, dairy products, Feed, red meat, soya and legumes. No fundamental change has occurred with regard to the diversity or quantity of food and livestock production in recent years. This lack of development, coupled with the high population growth rate, of 2.8% per annum therefore demand of poultry equipments, feed and fodders is elstic for Jordan.
